How it works

The main component that Axis uses is a small ID device that you carry with you. The ID device can be anything that has been Axis-enabled. A smart phone, a watch or a bracelet with a microchip are just some examples of what can be used as an ID device.

First you identify yourself to your ID device. This is done using either biometric or traditional methods of authentication.

As long as your ID device stays within close proximity of you, it knows it’s with you. If the ID device becomes separated from you, it immediately clears its association with you until you re-identify yourself to it again.

When you approach an Axis enabled remote terminal, your ID device wirelessly communicates with the terminal, doing a 2 fold security check. It checks if the ID device knows you are present and if it has the encrypted credentials necessary to access your computer.

If the security check passes, you are granted full remote access to your computer, and all you had to do is walk up to the terminal.

The remote connection is immediately ended if you leave the proximity of the ID device, or if the ID device leaves the proximity of the terminal. In short, when you’re done you simply walk away. And even if you accidentally leave your ID device behind, your data stays secure.
